In Poland, strawberries are cultivated plants. They prefer fertile, acidic soils, and sun-lit spots.
Strawberry is a perennial which is from 15 to 45 cm tall. It produces runners. Its leaves are trifoliate, and flowers grow in inflorescences. A single flower has 5 white petals. The fruits are initially green or beige (depending on variety), becoming red or maroon as they ripen.
Loved by Poles, strawberries are often eaten fresh or processed: in juice, jam, alcoholic beverages, sauces, or ice cream. The fruits do not lose its properties when frozen. Strawberries can be added to both sweet and savoury dishes. In therapeutics, they are valued since they improves metabolism, and have detoxicating, cleansing, and bactericidal properties.
